In the video, you are watching an electromagnetic industrial manufacturing process, called Mechatronics. Electrically controlled, pnuematicly operated valves, servos, suckers, solenoids and motors, lift and place the base of an object onto a conveyor. In less than 10 seconds, the base reaches a stacking station, which places and presses a lid onto the base. Sensors along the conveyor are able to sift out any metallic bases that are mistakenly placed on the conveyor, discarding them. The entire process must happen in less than 12.7 seconds in order for the student to pass the lab portion of this course. This course, Introduction to Mechatronics, can be completed in 9 weeks. Students who complete this course and pass an online exam, earn a Statewide Dual Credit for an A.A.S. in Mechatronics plus an Industry Credential from FESTO Manufacturing. This course is offered within the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing System Program of Study, and is certified by the National Coalition of Certification Centers or NC3.
